Mr. Hinck, 89, of Lake City, died Monday (Nov. 10, 2008) at St. Brigid at Hi-Park in Red Wing.
Alvin D. Hinck was born Jan. 26, 1919, in Mount Pleasant Township, Wabasha County. He served in the Army from 1942 to 1945, during World War II. After his discharge he returned to the Mount Pleasant Township area. On Sept. 15, 1954, he married Elaine Bartels at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hay Creek. The couple farmed in Mount Pleasant Township until 1977, when he retired because of poor health. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Belvidere Lutheran Church and the AM Vets. He enjoyed playing cards and farming.
Survivors include a son, John of Lake City; two daughters, Kathleen (Dennis Jr.) Cordes and Beverly (Clifford) Koll, both of Red Wing; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Alfred (Mary Ann) of Lake City; and a sister, Marie Tomforde of Lake City. He was preceded in death by his wife on Feb. 16, 2003; his parents, John and Anna (Fitschen) Hinck; and a sister, Elsie Hinck.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City, and an hour prior to the service Friday at the church.
