Dan was the youngest of nine children, and the only son. He married Ina Kimmel Bierman at the Saint Luke's Lutheran Church parsonage in Allentown on November 25, 1938. They raised raised two sons and two daughters. He worked for the Bethlehem Steel Company as a policeman.
Family was very important to my Uncle Dan. Since he was the only one of his siblings who learned to drive, he would take his sisters to visit each other. Each one of his sisters thought that she was his favorite - and he was definitely their favorite sibling.
