Clarence Carl Leisinger, 80, of Waverly, died Friday, Nov. 28, at Allen Hospital, Waterloo.
He was born May 26, 1928, northwest of Waverly, son of Herman and Bertha Volk Leisinger. He married Norma Ringleb on April 12, 1953. She died April 4, 1996. On Feb. 12, 1998, he married Celia Deike.
He served in the U.S. Army and was awarded a Purple Heart. He then returned to Waverly and began working for Coonradt Ford. Mr. Leisinger later farmed and in 1972 also began working for Terex Cranes, Waverly. He retired from Terex in 1984.
He was a member of Peace United Church of Christ, Waverly.
Survived by his wife; two sons, Vernon (Beverly) and Brian (Cindy), both of Waverly; two daughters, Shirley (George) Bierner and Lori (Tom) Soska, both of Cedar Falls; a sister, Edna Shipp of Waverly; four grandchildren; 13 stepgrandchildren; 11 stepgreat-grandchildren; two stepsons, Dean (Dianne) Deike of Waverly and Dallas (Cindy) Deike of Marshalltown; and three stepdaughters, Donna (Dean) DeNeiu of Longville, Minn., Davon (Dave Thurman) Gade of Waverly and Debra (Jim) Sullivan of Janesville.
Preceded in death by four brothers, Henry, Albert, George and Wayne; a sister, Emma Steege; and a stepson, Dennis Deike.
Services at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Grace Baptist Church, with burial in Harlington Cemetery, both in Waverly.
