Alvin L. "Slim" Clasen, 72, of 805 N. 3rd Street, Bellevue, Ia passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2008, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester Minnesota. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am Saturday, December 6, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellevue. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8pm Friday December 5, at St. Joseph Church in Bellevue where a scripture service will be at 8pm, the public is welcome. Visitation will be held again Saturday from 9:30 until mass time at the church. Kingery~Lemke Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
He was born on December 21, 1935 in Springbrook, Ia, son of Alvin N. & Emma (Weis) Clasen. He married Mary Ann Yeager on September 19, 1959, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellevue. Slim served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957 in Europe.

Slim worked at Bellevue Hearld Leader as Shop Foreman having the distinction of printing the last Bellevue Hearld Leader in the Bellevue Office. He was also Partner/General Manager of Tri State Graphics. He was also park manager/sales in Flordia and Texas. Most recently he was partner with his son Kent in their fire extinguisher business, Protection Plus Fire Equipment. Slim was very active in his community for many years. He was past Grand Knight of the Bellevue Knights of Columbus. Most recently, Council Treasure, member of the 4th degree Knight of Columbus, Dubourg Assembly, Bellevue Fire Department serving 15 years, BES Club, Bellevue Golf Club past president, Bellevue Jaycees past president, Bellevue Braves player/manager, Rotonda West Florida American Legion, and Bellevue/Sabula VFW. Slim enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, socializing, crosswords, mushroom hunting, and his Green Bay Packers, and Atlanta Braves.

Surviving is his wife of 49 years, Mary Ann; His children, Karolyn (L.T.) Eckles, Sully, Ia, Kent (Susie) Clasen, Bellevue, Ia.; Daughter-in-law, Stephanie Clasen, Harvest, Alabama; grandchildren, Lee, Leslie, and Laura Eckles, and Victoria Clasen; Brothers, Virtis (Marilyn) Clasen, Merlin "Pete" Marilyn Clasen, Bellevue; Sisters, Bernardine Nefzger, Earlville, Ia, Mary Ellen (James) Kirk, Maquoketa, Ia, Pauline (Leroy) Wagener, DeWitt, Ia, Lela Roiger, Randolf, Mn.

Proceeded in death by his son Kurt L. Clasen, parents Alvin & Emma Clasen, mother & father in law, Albert & Mae Yeager, brother in law, Arthur Goldsmith, Ed Nefzger, Dennis Hines, Clifford Roiger. Sister in law Marilyn Yeager, and nephew Jeff Hines.
