Richard Aster McDaniel, 78, of Shady Lane died at 11:24 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008, at Kindred Hospital South of Greenwood.
The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Orville Turner officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today. Burial will be at the Methodist Church cemetery in Azalia.
Mr. McDaniel is survived by his wife, June Arbuckle McDaniel; sons, Scott Lane and Troy Dale McDaniel, both of Columbus; a daughter, Judy L. McDaniel of Murfreesboro, Ar., and brothers, David McDaniel of Greenwood and Bruce Wayne McDaniel of Shelbyville; sisters, Juanita Ruth Cross and Linda Gamble, both of Beech Grove; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Richard McDaniel was a member of the local 135 Teamsters Union in Indianapolis and retired from Anderson Motor Fraight In Indianapolis and Amtrek in Beech Grove, a former employee at Old Army Ammunition Plant in Charleston, Indiana and held a pilots licence since 1964 at the Compton Airport, Comptom, California.
