Mrs. Clemens G. Hunger Expired This Morning at Family Home

Friends were shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the death of Mrs. Catherine Hunger, wife of Mr. Clemens G. Hunger, a well known local feed merchant, that occurred shortly before 6 o'clock this morning at the family home, 213 south Jefferson street. Although Mrs. Hunger had been in failing health for a number of years she was thought to have shown some improvement and was up and about as usually yesterday and last night. Her passing this morning was rather sudden and unexpected. Her death was attributed to heart trouble and complications.

The deceased was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Bierck and was 68 years of age. She was born in Madison and spent her entire life in this city. She was a life-long member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and was a devout Christian. She was active in church affairs so long as her health permitted and was also a member of the Altar Society of the church.

Mrs. Hunger was a loving and devoted wife and mother and was the center of a beautiful home life. She possessed many friends who were shocked to learn of her sudden passing from their midst.
She was married in St. Mary's church in this city forty-nine years ago tomorrow to Mr. Hunger who survives together with eight children as follows: Rev. Henry Hunger, of St. Magdalene; Mrs. Matt Hoffman, North Madison; Mrs. Arthur Menney, Fort Thomas, Ky.; Oscar and Edward Hunger, at home; Rev. Clemens Hunger, of Lanesville, Ind.; Dr. Joseph Hunger, of Evansville, and Mrs. Lawrence Hill, of this city. A daughter, Mrs. Catherine Capps, of Vincennes, passed away sixteen years ago. Mrs. Hunger is also survived by seventeen grandchildren; three brothers, William Bierck, of this city; Louis Bierck, of Trimble County, Ky., and Charles Bierck and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Hodapp, of Cincinnati, O. and Misses Margaret and Carrie Bierck, of Terre Haute.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hunger will be held at nine o'clock Monday morning in St. Mary's Catholic church. The interment will be in St. Joseph's cemetery.
