Charles F. Lewis, passed away December 5, 2008. He was born May 6, 1921 to Emma Clark and Paul C. Lewis, Charles was known as the baby.On January 7, 1922, when Charles was 7 months old, he was out for a car ride with his family when the car hit an Interurban train near the Eleventh Street entrance to Sim Park. Charles was thrown more than 100 feet, safely landing in sand pile. Paul Lewis lost his mother, his wife and his first-born son, 20 month old Paul C, Jr. in that accident. Paul then married Margaret Armstrong who brought Charles up as her own along with siblings Betty (dec) Felix Blubaugh, Ted (dec) (Rosemary) Lewis, Robert (dec) (Betty) Lewis, Paul K. (Regina) Lewis, Margaret Ann (Mike, dec) Ayers, Dr. Mark (Deloris) Lewis, Bill Lewis and Don (Judy) Lewis. Charles served in the Army Air Corp and was based at Pearl Harbor during WWII. Upon return, he spent most of his life working at Lewis Brothers Hardware located at 140 N. Market. Charles married Seraphine R. Herman (dec). Their children are Frances Lewis, Chuck (Irene) Lewis, Sharon (George) Saunders, Pattie (Darryl) Knauff, and Katie (Roger) Goodwin. Grandchildren are Jason Knauff, Gina (Adam) Stewart, Grace Knauff, Conor, Caitlin and Kelly Lewis, Andrew and Danielle Goodwin. Rosary will be held Monday, December 8, at 7:00 pm at DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt Chapel. Funeral Service will be Tuesday, December 9, at 10:30 am at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Memorials can be sent to St. Patrick's Parish.
