Juanita May Stump, 79, of Coopers Creek Road passed away Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, after a short illness.
She was the daughter of the late Clyde and Mary Cavender of Coopers Creek. Her loving husband of 57 years, Jerry Mark Stump, passed away earlier this year in March. Son, Stevie preceded her in death along with her brothers, Frederick and Kenneth Cavender.

Juanita is survived by her four loving children, their spouses, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They include son, Ron of Fredricksburg, Va., and his wife Lucy. Daughters, Sharon Davidson of Coopers Creek and her husband John, Debbie McCallister of Charleston and her husband Roy, Delcie Goettel of Fairmont and her husband Bill. Grandchildren are John Davidson Jr., Mark Davidson and wife Jamie, Bethany McCallister, Hannah Thompson and husband Iaian, Jerry Jonathan Stump, Rebekah Stump, Meghan Goettel, and Andrea Goettel. Great-grandchildren are Cameron Cline, Tad Mason, and Josie Davidson, and Iaian, Cadence, and Abigail Thompson. She is also survived by her sisters and their husbands. They are Freda Quaranta and husband Dino of Phoenix, Az., and Erma Frederick and her husband Ken of Rockledge, Fl.; sister-in-laws, Emma Rose Cavendar of Nitro, and Stachia Cavender, of Charleston. She also has numerous nieces and nephews.

Juanita spent 20 of her adult years traveling as an Air Force wife and mother following Jerry to all parts of the globe. After Jerry retired, they were house parents at the Advent Christian Village in Florida and then managed two HUD facilities for retired people at the Village.

Juanita was a member of the Elk Valley Advent Christian Church, Big Chimney. She loved her church and the special people there. She was never happier than singing in church and with the Stump Family Group. She took great joy being in the Coopers Creek Homemakers Club.

The celebration of Juanita's life will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008, at Myers Funeral Home in Elkview. The Rev. Roy Boyd will be officiating. Burial will be in the Cavender Cemetery on Coopers Creek Road.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
