She was born Dec 3,1908 at Shellsburg, the daughter of Bert and Minnie Hite Sheeley. After graduating from Shellsburg High School, she worked for 25 years as a clerk at the grocery store in Shellsburg, On Aug 11 21932, she married James Russell Saunders at Freeport, Ill. He preceded her in death on April 2 1977. In addition to spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she enjoyed baking and walking.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Dale Jensen, Shellsburg; her son and daughter-in-law Jerry and Mary Saunders, Prescott, Ariz.; grandchildren, Lloyda Hosman and husband Paul, Terri Edeler and husband Kenny, Julie Jense, Jerri Jacobsen and husband Ken, Arnold Jensen and wife Vicki and Corey Jensen and wife Leah; and great -grandchildren Jamie and Jeremy Boots, Kristin and Ranae Jensen, Mandy and Jenny Edeler and Justin and Brooke Hosman; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Aug 28 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, Vinton with the Rev. Dr. Dennis Morey officiating. Private family burial was at Oakwood Cemetery, Shellsburg, Visitaiton will be after 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
