Entered into eternal rest Wednesday, November 1, 2006, Commander Douglas Vincent Crabbe, Jr., US Navy (Ret.), husband of Phyllis Ransom Crabbe. Residence, Hanahan, South Carolina.

The relatives and friends of Commander and Mrs. Douglas V. Crabbe, Jr., US Navy (Ret) are invited to attend the funeral service of the former at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., GREENRIDGE ROAD CHAPEL, Sunday, November 5, 2006 at two o'clock. Interment will be held in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call at Stuhr's Greenridge Road Chapel, Saturday, November 4, 2006 from five until seven o'clock.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to National Kidney Foundation, 500 Taylor Street, Suite 101, Columbia , SC 29201 or to the American Heart Association, 409 King Street, Charleston, SC 29403.

Born June 14, 1937 in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Commander Crabbe was the son of Douglas V. Crabbe, Sr. and Rita Lonsdorf Crabbe.

He was a Navy veteran of the Viet Nam War and was the recipient of the Purple Heart.

He was a 1961 graduate of the US Naval Academy and retired after twenty-seven years of service.

He was also a member of the Naval Academy Alumni Association and the Antique Automobile Club of America.

Surviving Commander Crabbe are his wife: Phyllis R. Crabbe of Hanahan; a son: Douglas Kip V. Crabbe, III of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; two daughters: Kristin Corinne Hughes of Summerville and Kindra Caprice Pettigrew of Columbia; a sister: Sharon Hodges of Mt. Pleasant and three grandchildren.
