Mrs. Major was born June Montgomery on Dec. 7, 1935, in Tucumcari, N.M. She was a packer for Tony's Pizza and worked for Kansas State University Food Service, retiring in 1997.
Her husband, Thomas L., died in 1996.
Survivors include two sons, Mitchell Major of Beverly and Henry Creel of Salina; four daughters, Bonnie Kenyon of Yoder, Colo., Pauline Carter of Salina, Barbara Rose of Nashua, Iowa, and Mary Woodhull of Collyer; four sisters, Idel Smith of Roseburg, Ore., Emily Russell of Tucson, Ariz., Juanita Scott of South Annton, N.J., and Jane Scaggs of Peace Valley, Mo.; 26 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Church of Christ, 1646 N. Ninth, Salina. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Salina.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Salina in care of Roselawn Mortuary, 1307 S. Santa Fe, Salina 67401.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Roselawn Heights Memorial Chapel, 1920 E. Crawford, Salina, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, and from 3 p.m. until the service Saturday at the church.
