Eleanor Casavan, 76, of Red Lake Falls, MN died on Monday, June 03, 2002 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls, MN. Arrangements with Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 7, 2002 at 10:30 AM in St. John Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls with Reverend Jeffrey S. Lytle Officiating. Burial will be held at Immanuel Cemetery at Wylie, MN.

Visitation will be held on Thursday 5 – 8 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service and also one hour prior to services all at St. John Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls.

Eleanor Ruth Casavan was born June 30, 1925 daughter of Walter and Edna (Wagner) Wieland at Fisher, MN. She was Baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fisher, MN and Confirmed June 25, 1939 at Immanuel Lutheran Church at Wylie.She moved to Red Lake Falls with her family in the fall of 1938. Eleanor graduated from Lafayette High School in Red Lake Falls in 1943. On September 18, 1946 she was joined in blissful marriage to Lawrence "Blackie" Casavan at Dorothy, MN. The couple lived near Red Lake Falls where she worked at the Farmers Union, Bjerke Hardware, Thompson Hardware and for 18 ½ years at Hillcrest Nursing Home. Blackie died on April 8, 1995.

Eleanor was an active member of the St. John Lutheran Church and the Ladies aid, was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a life member of the VFW Auxiliary in Crookston. She enjoyed fishing, attending grandchildren's sporting events, word search, cards, embroidery and spoiling her sons-in-law.

She is survived by her son Gary (Paulette) Casavan of Red Lake Falls, MN; daughters Lois (Allen) Remick of Red Lake Falls, Linda (Kenneth) Ulrich of Red Lake Falls and Carol (Douglas) Kees of Juda, WI. Mother Edna Wieland of Red Lake Falls, Grandchildren Julie, Craig, Steven, Jannelle, Brian, Andrea, Bradley, Tricia, Jeffrey, Tara, Brenden, Michaela, Wyatt and Joshua: three great-grandchildren Brooke, Olivia and Paige. Brothers Kenneth Wieland of Red Lake Falls, Alvis Wieland of Red Lake Falls, Henry (Marilyn) Wieland of Red Lake Falls, Donald (Audrey) Wieland of Crookston, MN and Dean (Mae) Wieland of Grand Forks, ND. Also many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Lawrence "Blackie" Casavan and her father Walter Wieland.
