Fran "Mom" McCarty, 70, of Alamogordo, passed away on Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, at her home.
"Mom" was born March 16, 1938, in Graham, Texas to Finley Othell and Mary Frances (Ingram) Pratt. She had lived in Alamogordo since 1971 and was the owner of Mom's Home Cooking.
Survivors include her sons Douglas McCarty and Brad Williams both of Alamogordo; three daughters, Mary Keith and her husband David, Lavanda Vazquez and Charlotte Queenan, all of Alamogordo; 21 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a brother, Jack Pratt and his wife, Betty, of Dublin, Texas; a sister, Charlotte Norland of Las Vegas, Nev.; a brother-in-law Marion Meiss of Fairbury, Ill.; and a sister-in-law Marilyn Pratt of Albany, Texas.
"Mom" was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Burns McCarty, in 1999; a son Bobby McCarty; two brothers, Dewayne Pratt and Billy Pratt; and a sister Barbara Meiss.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Hamilton-O'Dell Chapel with the Rev. Bart Montgomery officiating. Interment will follow in Monte Vista Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Vazquez, Alex Vazquez, Shannon Taylor, Matthew Bunner, Timothy Hays, David Porras and Allen Burthart. Honorary bearers will be Darryl Morgan, Fred Murray and Ray Bailey.
