DIED - MARTHALER - At his home in the town of Lowell, at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 1, 1899, Mr. Matthias Marthaler, aged 70 years.

The deceased was born in Germany and came to America with his parents when about seven years of age, settling in Pennsylvania, where they resided until about 1854, when they removed to Wisconsin, locating in the town of Lowell. He had resided on the farm where he died, for the last 36 years and was beloved by all his neighbors and other acquaintances, as a most worthy citizen, and old settlers have lost another of their esteemed members.

His widow and seven children, four daughters the Mesdames, Peter Daniels, Benj. Brower, and John Andorfer all of this city, and Miss Hattie Marthaler, at home, and three sons Albert, town of Beaver Dam, and Frank and Fred, at home, one brother, George Marthaler, town of Beaver Dam and a half-brother Mr. Peter Fredericks, of Erie, Pa., and many other relatives to mourn his loss. He was sick only a week, with bowel trouble, which was the cause of his demise.

His funeral was held at 2 p.m. today, from the North Lowell Chapel, Rev. T. S. Johnson officiating. Burial was in the cemetery at South Beaver Dam.
