A Memorial Service for Edna C. Spika, age 100, who died at Golden Living Center West on January 18th, 2009, will be held 11:00A.M. Thursday, January 22, 2009 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. William Otte officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Viewing, at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home, will be on Wednesday from 5:00-7:00P.M. A Visitation on Thursday will be from 10:00A.M.until the time of Service. Memorials are requested to Trinity Lutheran Church.
Edna Christina Maass was born August 13, 1908 in Rochester, Minnesota. She graduated from Rochester High School as the Salutatorian of her class. She married Bruce Matheson, January 1, 1928. They lived in Rochester until moving to Tucson, Arizona in 1941. Edna moved back to Rochester in 1943. She and her husband divorced. She worked as a bookkeeper for Botsfords Lumber Company in Rochester from 1945-1955. She married Rudy Sipka in Rochester 1n 1955. He died in 1967. In August 2008 , at age 100, she went for a hot air balloon ride over Rochester. She also went horse back riding. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a doting Grandmother.
She is survived by a daughter; Joyce Garmers (Richard) of Rochester, MN; A Son: James Matheson (Susan) of Palo Alto, Ca; 10 grandchildren, 22 Great Grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren She was preceded in death by her husband, a Son (Robert Matheson), an infant daughter, 3 grandchildren, 6 brothers, and 4 sisters.
