Betty Y. Noack, 79, was born in Canton, Illinois to parents Paul and Mary Standard Hampton. She died at the Good Shepherd Medical Center in Hermiston.

She was raised in Peoria, Ill., graduating from Woodruf High School in 1947. Betty was united in marriage to Robert E. Noack on July 30, 1955 in Peoria, Ill. They moved to Hermiston in 1975 where she has lived since. Betty worked for a short time at the Hermiston Chamber of Commerce before starting an in-home child care business. She later went to work for the Umatilla-Morrow Headstart Program.

Betty worked for Headstart for 20 years before retiring in 2004. She was a member of the Hermiston First Christian Church. Betty volunteered for Vange John Memorial Hospice, SMART, Neighborhood Watch, and founded Hermiston Varieties. She also created the Bob Noack Memorial Fountain at Good Shepherd Medical Center. Betty received the 2008 Community Service Award in Hermiston.

She is survived by her daughter, Paula Noack of Normal, Ill.; son, Bob Noack, of Hermiston; mother, Mary Danner, of Morton, Ill.; granddaughter, Amanda Neill, and great granddaughter, Natalie Neill.

Betty was preceded in death by husband Robert E. Noack in 1989, her father, and a sister, Paula Zimmerman.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 28 at 11 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Hermiston. Burial will follow at the Hermiston Cemetery.
