Anna (DeLaney) Peale was the daughter of Andrew and Margaret (Potts) DeLaney. She was the 1st wife of Rev. Charles Clifford Peale. They were married October 20, 1895. Rev. Peale was a minister in the Cincinnati Conference/West Ohio Conference/Ohio Conference and Genesee Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church/The Methodist Church. He died September 21, 1955. Anna was the mother of Rev. Dr. Norman Vincent Peale.

Mrs. C. C. Peale was born in Paris, Kentucky, February 7, 1875, the daughter of Andrew and Margaret DeLaney. In early childhood she moved to Lynchburg, Ohio. She early evidenced a brilliant mind and graduated with high honors from the public schools. At the age of seventeen she was given a teacher's certificate and taught for two years in a country school.
