He was born, November 23, 1916, in Jasper, Missouri. Tom was the son of Charles Japheth Ball and Sylvia "Flournoy" Ball. He retired from Leggett and Platt, in 1988, after working there for 34 years. He also farmed. He was a former Mason in the Jasper Lodge #398. Tom also served on the Jasper School Board for fourteen years. He attended Fairview Christian Church.
Tom married Muriel "Farmer" Ball on July 1, 1939; she preceded him in death in April, 1974. He then married Amy "Littrell" Ball on June 24, 1977, she survives.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his four sisters, Charlotte Marie Ball, Martha Brown, Barbara Winders and Margaret Sansom, and his infant brother, Richard Lee Ball.
Tom is survived by his son, Tom Ball and wife, Jacque, of Jasper; his four daughters, Sylvia (Susie) Norwood and husband, Buddy, of Carthage, Janice Clements and husband, Bud, of Jasper, Jeanie (Lois Jean) Crocker and husband, Jim, of Carthage, Cathy Long of Nevada; two step-sons, Ron Howerton and wife, Lura, Don Howerton and wife, Debbie, both of Carthage; and one stepdaughter, Sheila Burress and husband, Richard, of Wichita, Kansas; his two brothers, Walter Ball and Charles Ball of Jasper; his ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, two great-granddaughters on the way, six step-grandchildren, and eight step-great-grandchildren.

Services for Thomas Flournoy Ball were at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January, 29, 2009, at Ulmer Funeral Home Chapel, with visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 28, 2009, also at the Ulmer Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was at Park Cemetery, Carthage, Missouri.
