ARTHUR PHILMORE GILLEY, 84-year old father of country music singer Mickey Gilley, has died after a long illness. The elder Gilley, a lifetime resident of Ferriday, La., died Tuesday night at the Jefferson Davis Memorial Hospital in Natchez, Miss.
Services will be held Thursday in Crestview, La., with burial following in nearby Mangham. Officiating will be the Rev. Jimmy Swaggert of Baton Rouge, nationally famous evangelist who is a cousin of Gilley's.
Survivors include Gilley's wife, Irene, with whom he recently celebrated a 60th wedding anniversary; two other sons, Aubrey of Corpus Christi and Ray of Ferriday; a daughter, Edna McQuet of Mandeville, La.; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
