CHESAPEAKE - Kristina Marie Kral, 7, died Nov. 23, 2006, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Kristina was a first grade student at Deep Creek Elementary School, a Brownie at the Girl Scout Council of Colonial Coast and was baptized at Great Bridge Presbyterian Church.

Kristina's love for life and friends was surpassed only by her love for her family and God. Always a kind and gentle child, Kristina filled any room she entered with light and love. Her friendship was an inspiration, her love a blessing. She loved people and laughter, always preferring to give rather then receive. She walked in beauty with grace in all her steps, heaven in her eye, in every gesture dignity and love. When she died, it seemed like the ceasing of exquisite music. Her memory is enshrined in our hearts.

Kristina is survived by her parents, Tom and JoAnne Kral; her sister, Jenna Kral; maternal grandparents, Joyce R. Benners of Virginia Beach and James A. Benners Sr. of LaGrange, N.C.; paternal grandparents, Tom and Rita Kral of Ravenna, Ohio; and lots of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Great Bridge Presbyterian Church, 333 Cedar Road, Chesapeake, by Dr. Ralph Herbert. Viewing and visitation with the family is Friday from 6 until 9 p.m. at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments Inc., Chesapeake. Burial will be private.

The family wishes to express sincere gratitude for the kindness, compassion, sensitivity and professionalism to Dr. Linda Pegram and Hematology & Blood Disorders Clinic staff at the Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters, Norfolk, Dr. Elizabeth Fox and Pediatric Oncology Branch staff and Dr. Russell Lonser and Neuro-Oncology Branch staff at The National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Md., and Dr. Daniel von Allmen, chief of Pediatric Surgery, at The University of North Carolina.

We greatly appreciate the generosity, love and resources provided to our family from all those who have helped us during this difficult time.
