He was born in Concord Twp, Adams County,IL, a son of William and Amelia Hanke Kestner.
He married Viola Hollenstein on Sept. 11, 1917, in Quincy, IL. She survives.
Mr. Kestner was road commissioner for Concoord Township for 20 years. He attended Hazel Bluff School, was a member of the Clayton Good Shepard Lutheran Church and the Farm Bureau.
Surviving is one brother, Loren of Clayton. He was preceded in death by one son and two brothers.
