Mary Jane met and eventually married James Anderson in January 1845, in Ripley, Tippah County, MS. They moved into his newly built home in the Dumas community and had nine children. They were a very closely knit religious family and had many friends in the community. Many family reunions were held in that frame house with as many as 40 to 50 people in attendance.
James died in 1863 at 54 from a bout of scurvy and Mary Jane continued to live in that frame house until she died at the age of 84 of natural causes related to old age.
