George Dewey Pepper, 59, of the Peppertown community died Aug. 13, 2003, at North Mississippi Medical Center-Eupora Hospital of complications from lung cancer.

Mr. Pepper was a mail carrier with the Eupora Post Office for 32 years. He was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed drawing and woodworking. He was a member of Bellefontaine United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Margie Pepper of Peppertown; two sons, Jason Pepper and Jody Pepper of Starkville; three brothers, Everette Pepper of the Crossroads community, Cecil Pepper of McComb and Stanley Pepper of Peppertown; two sisters, Evelyn Andrews of Madison, Ohio, and Sandra Sisson of Bellefontaine; a special nephew, Allen Pepper; many nieces and nephews, including Katelyn Pepper, Maggie Sisson and Georgia Sisson, his namesake; and many friends and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howell Mitchell Pepper.

Pallbearers were Burt Nail, Leon Long, Don Tabb, Bobby Roberts, Jimmy Allen Pepper and Derrel Dean.

Honorary pallbearers were Kenneth Graham, Ricky Wilson, Joe Cobb, Ulin Schmitz, John Bailey, Jeffery Tabb, Mitch Mitchell and Joe McCorkle.

Services were Aug. 15 at Bellefontaine United Methodist Church with the Revs. Joel Walls and Julia Stephenson officiating. Burial was in North Union Cemetery with Wise Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
