"Bill" Robinson was the son of Harry Karol Robinson (1900-81) and Josephine Abbanat (1902-91). He followed the footsteps of his older brother, Lt. James Allen Robinson (1927-2002), and graduated from the US Naval Academy in 1953. He immediately entered into the UDT's where he later helped form and command the first Navy SEAL teams in 1962. Bill retired after 31 years of service and had commanded many missions into Viet Nam.
Commander Robinson was a 1953 graduate of the Naval Academy. He served aboard USS BRINKLEY (DD-887); USS NORTHAMPTON (CLC-1); USS SAN MARCOS (LSD-25); command of Underwater Demolition Team 12, in 1962; special warfare officer with COMPHIBGRU one (CTF-76) in 1965; Executive officer of USS OAK Hill (LSD-7), in 1966; commanding officer, USS ASHLAND (LSD-1).

Bill was murdered in cold blood in the middle of the day in an upscale residential area of San Diego. The perpetrators were never found. Bill had a lovely wife Elaine and a daughter Stacey. Bill was my uncle and if anyone knows anything of his murder, please contact me. Thank you. DAR
