BYRON RAY HESS
A funeral for Byron Ray Hess, a Gladstone resident, will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Oregon City Church of the Nazerene. Private entombment will be in the Mtn. View Cemetery Mausoleum in Oregon City.
He died of causes related to age Wednesday in an Oregon City hospital. Mr. Hess was 89.
Born June 4, 1901, in Warren County, Iowa, he married, Estalene Puderbaugh on June 14, 1921, in Iowa. The couple moved to Gladstone in 1936. Mr. Hess worked as a self employed painter for many years until his retirement. A member of the Oregon City Church of the Nazerene, he served on the church board and helped to build Hohn Hall at the church.
Mr. Hess was preceded in death by two of his daughters, Faith and Freda.
Survivors besides his wife include his sons, Vernon of Seattle, Hollis R. of Gladstone and Arvid E. of Federal Way, Wash.; daughters, Janis Hess Fosberg and Berniece Hess Millan of Gladstone; four brothers, two sisters; 12 grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
