Ottilia B. Helfrich, nee Reinhardt, 95, of Belleville, IL, formerly of Smithton, IL, born February 4, 1913, in Paderborn, IL, died Tuesday, August 12, 2008, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Belleville, IL.

Mrs. Helfrich was very involved in farming with her husband, Rudy Helfrich. She was a member of the St. Clair County Farm Bureau. Ottilia was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Smithton, IL; St. John's Women's Club; and Catholic Fraternal Life.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Rudolph J. Helfrich, whom she married August 17, 1938, and who died February 10, 1991; her parents, Alois Reinhardt Sr. and Elizabeth, nee Sauzek, Reinhardt; two brothers, Alois Reinhardt Jr. and Clement Reinhardt; six sisters, Martha Biffar, Sr. Theresa (Sr. Antonia) Reinhardt, Order of St. Francis; Hedwig Kaiser; Florence Honnecker; Isabella (Sr. Mary Paul) Reinhardt, Adorers of the Blood of Christ; and Opportuna Cortner; two grandsons, Kent Arnold and Aaron Helfrich; and two sons-in-law, Earl Jany and Myrl Greiman.

Surviving are a son, Dan (Karen) Helfrich of Smithton, IL; three daughters, Kathleen E. Greiman of Belleville, IL, Dianne L. Jany of Paderborn, IL, Patricia L. Noltkamper of Belleville, IL; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2008, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Smithton, IL. A prayer service will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Funeral procession will leave at 9:45 a.m. Thursday, August 14, 2008, from George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Smithton, IL, for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Smithton, IL, with Father Gerald Hechenberger officiating.

Burial will be at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Smithton, IL.
