Irma Jeanette Martin Long was a daughter of Reuben Marion and Sarah Jane Rowland Martin.

Irma Jeanette Martin (8 June 1881-1 May 1966) married William Vincey Long (29 March 1873-16 November 1947). The children of William Vincey and Irma Jeanette Martin Long were: Guy Savery Long (21 July 1910-22 December 1995) married Pauline Mattox on 21 February 1942 in Lee County, Mississippi; Carl Vernon Long (4 September 1912-7 November 1991) married Nancy Elizabeth Wiygul on 20 December 1946 in Lee County, Mississippi; Earl Vandiver Long (23 December 1917-February 1980) married Anna Frances Mears (9 July 1916-16 December 2008) on 7 August 1941 in Lee County, Mississippi; Betty Sue Long (24 February 1921-9 June 2003) married Fred Nabors Wiygul on 22 January 1951 in Lee County, Mississippi; and Paul Ray Long (31 July 1925-22 August 2000) married Charlotte Ann Spradling on 27 May 1953 in Lee County, Mississippi.


Mrs. Irma Long Services Today-Resident of East Heights 66 Years

Mrs. Irma Martin Long, who had resided in the East Heights area of Tupelo for 66 years, died at 2 a.m. Monday in Community Hospital after an illness of a week. She was 84. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in The Funeral Chapel of W. E. Pegues with the Revs. Milton Worthington, Harold Wilder and Page Box officiating. Burial will be in Priceville Cemetery. Mrs. Long was born in Baldwyn and resided there until moving to Tupelo in 1900. She was the widow of William Vincy Long, who died in 1947, and the daughter of the late Ruben Marion and Sarah Rowland Martin, who built the second home in what is now East Heights. She was the last survivor of their children. Martin's Hill community was named for members of the Martin families. Mrs. Long was a member of East Heights Free Will Baptist Church. She leaves a daughter, Mrs. Betty Sue Long Wiygul of Tupelo; four sons, Guy, Carl V. and Earl V. Long of Tupelo and the Rev. Paul Long of Phoenix, Arizona; and seven grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Lewis Branyan, H. A. Roberts, Lance Reese, Sam P. King, Raymond Merchant and Clyde Reese.
