Leonard Ray Burnett, 69, died on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009.

He was born to Henry and Lena Burnett on August 1, 1939 in Robstown. He married Mary Walker on June 23, 1962 in Three Rivers. He was a teacher at Sinton ISD for over 15 years. For 12 years he served on the Board of Directors for the Region 2 Educational Service Center. Later, he was co-owner of Custom Machine Shop of Sinton. He helped revolutionize the rolling stalk cutter in order to help farmers with debris management. This later brought him to another cofounding business of FARMCO Tractor Company. He was a Hunting Operations Manager for the Nunley Brothers at The Junco Ranch for over 20 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sinton.

Leonard is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary; two sons Kyle (Becky) Burnett of Lathrop, CA, Travis (Sandra) Burnett of Odem; his daughter Cheryl (Jason) Gallagher and son-in-law Jason of Beeville.

Visitation was held on Saturday, Feb. 14, from 6-9 p.m., at Resthaven Funeral Home in Sinton. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 15, at First Baptist Church in Sinton. Interment service followed at Memorial Park Cemetery in Robstown.
