Peter Kevin Amstutz entered into rest February 12, 2009 at his home in Antelope, CA after a bravely fought battle with cancer. He was 55. He was born in Stockton, CA and raised in the Sacramento area. He graduated from Hiram Johnson in 1971 and entered the U.S Coast Guard in 1973. Peter was an Aviation Maintenance Technician, Senior Chief. His career took him to Clearwater, FL; Washington, DC; Elizabeth City, NC; and two tours in Kodiak, AK before returning home to Sacramento in 1996. He retired in 2003 after 30 years service. Peter enjoyed working on cars, hiking, bicycling, camping, and tinkering on different projects. He enjoyed life and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Peter is survived by his wife of 27 years, Patricia; daughter Stacy, and son Daniel; father O. Peter Amstutz (Wanda); brother Michael Barney (Jean); brother Patrick Amstutz (Jeri); sister Lisa Eckles (Peter); aunt, Barbara Grappi (Bob); and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Amstutz, and sister, Melinda Greene. At his request, no funeral service will be held. He will be interred at the Sacramento Valley VA National Cemetery in Dixon, CA at a later date. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00pm to 4:00pm on March 14, 2009 at Coast Guard Air Station, Sacramento located at the former McClellan Air Force Base.
