John Kuhlman Rites Monday
John D. G. Kuhlman, 74, retired banker and farmer of the Uehling community, was laid to rest on Monday. Services at the Wollmer and Warne Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. were followed by rites at 2 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran church at Uehling. Rev. Hugo Welchert officiated. Interment was made in the Hooper cemetery.
Music for the services was by John Rinderhagen, Adolph Stover, Richard Jones and Erwin Stover, with Mrs. Charles
Brokaw as organist. Pallbearers were Elmer Von Essen, Ira Uehling, Harry Larson, Owen Mitchell, John Stolley and Fred Bengston.
The body lay in state Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
Mr. Kuhlman died suddenly at Oakland Friday, after a heart attack. He had been ill for some time. He is survived by his widow, Louise; two sons, George of Fremont and Ray of Hooper; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Born on July 7, 1877, on a farm in Burt county, Mr. Kuhlman settled on a farm north of Uehling after his marriage to Louise Munderloh on April 27, 1899. In 1907 he moved to Uehling, and the following year entered the Logan Valley Bank at Uehling, where he was active until 1933.
He was a charter member of St. Paul's Lutheran church at Uehling, and was president of the Brotherhood for many years.
