Anna Maria Dorothea was born June 17, 1828 in Wiedikon, Zurich, Switzerland, the daughter of Johannes Mathys and Anna Dorothea Meyer. At age 20 she married Hans Ulrich Bryner Jr. in Switzerland. In 1854 she and her husband joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Two years later she, her husband, children, and other family members emigrated to Utah. The family was part of the Dan Jones/ John A. Hunt Company that included handcarts (they were in wagons). Many suffered due to a late start, arriving in the Salt Lake Valley mid December 1856. The family lived in Lehi, Ogden, and then settled in New Harmony, Utah in 1865. Later the family moved to Price, Utah. Ana Maria died at age 65 as is buried in the Price City Cemetery. She is the mother of 8 and was survived by six of her children: Henry Gottfried, Pauline Ann, Elizabeth Ann, Albert, Mary Verena (Franny), and Casper Franklin.
