Services for Marie L. Jacobs, 68, of 2700 9th St., Rock Island, are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., Moline (IL). Burial is in Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island (IL).
Visitation is 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Memorials may be left at the funeral home for a fund to be established in her name. She died Tuesday at Illini Hospital (Silvis, IL.). Marie Pitsch was born Dec. 20, 1919, in Rock Island (IL), where she married Sam Jacobs Sept. 4, 1948.
Mrs. Jacobs was employed as a supply clerk at the Rock Island Arsenal and later as a vegetable and salad cook for 17 years at the former Central Junior High School, Rock Island, currently Lincoln Elementary School, retiring in 1985.
She was a member of Memorial Christian Church, Rock Island; American Association of Retired Persons; and Lincoln Elementary District 41 Union.
Survivors include the widower; a daughter Diana Forsythe, Silvis (IL); step-daughters, Sandra Chance, Bettendorf (IA), and Patricia Draper, East Moline (IL); a stepson, Kenneth Jacobs, Shawnee, Kan.; eight grandchildren; a great-grandson; and sisters, Mildred Harris and Geraldine Pitsch, both of Rock Island (IL), Rose Podlash, Holiday, Fla., and Ramona Perleth, Jacksonville, N.C."
