Herbert Osterloh

Funeral services for Herbert Osterloh of Scribner were held Tues., July 7 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, rural Hooper. He died July 4 at the Good Samaritan, Center in Scribner at the age of 90 years.

The Rev. Christopher Lenning officiated at the service. La Vonne Moeller was organist and special music was presented by St. Paul's
Choir.

Casket bearers were Jon D. Wiese, Tom wiese, BruUce Sedivy, Neil Gustafson, and Galen Osterloh. Burial was in St. Paul's Cemetery. Spear-Johnson Funeral Home in Scribner was in charge of arrangements.

Herbert G. Osterloh was born Sept. 22, 1907 at Hooper to Frederick and Mary (Romberg) Osterloh. He attended District 35 school. He farmed northeast of Hooper after his marriage to Emma Popken on Dec. 17, 1929 at Hooper until 1936.

He moved to California with his family from 1936-1939 when he returned to the area and farmed for a short while, He was a self-employed carpenter in the 40s and 50s and moved into Scribner in 1962. He was emmployed at the Scribner Air Base as a maintenance man from 1966 until he retired in 1978. He had been a resident of the Hooper, Uehling and Scribner areas for most of his life.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, rural Hooper where he served as a past memmber of the Church Council and was, a past member of the Luthern Brotherhood.

Survivors include two daughhters, Nona and husband Lloyd Wiese of Scribner and Eileen Gustafson of Hooper; one sister, Anna Meyer of Scribner; three brothers, Elmer of Scribner, Glenville of Fremont and Martin of Newman Grove; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 1981; two grandchildren; two sisters, Christina Reuther and Margaret Popken; two brothers, Bill Osterloh and one infant brother; and a son-in-law, Bob Gustafson.

Herbert G. Osterlob, 90, of Scribner died Saturday, July 4, 1998, at tbe Good Samaritan Center in Scribner. He was a resiident of the Hooper, Uehling and Scribner areas for most of his lifetime.

Herbert was born September 22, 1907, to Frederick and Mary (Romberg) Osterloh at Hooper. He attended District 35 school.

On December 17, 1929, he married Emma Popken at Hooper. The couple farmed northeast of Hooper from 1929 - 1936. He moved to California with his family from 1936-39 when be returned to the area and farmed for a short while; he was a self-employed carpenter in the 40's and 50' s and moved into Scribner in 1962.
