Obituary - John H. Kuhlman

August 15, 1912

John H. Kuhlman died at the Methodist hospital in Omaha at 9 O'clock Tuesday night. Mr. Gerhard Monnich, a brother-in-law, received a telegram early Tuesday morning stating that Mr. Kuhlman was worse. Mr. Monnich went to Omaha at once and was with him when the end came. Mr. Kuhlman underwent an operation there July 13.hhw

John H. Kuhlman was born in Oldenburg, Germany, Sept. 16, 1856. He came to this country in 1869, locating north of Hooper. Later he resided for a short time near Oakland and also in Oklahoma. Was at one time a merchant in our city where he had since resided.

He was married in this vicinity Feb. 18, 1880 to Miss Gesine Monnich who still survives him.

He was ill for five months and submitted to an operation for appendicitis July 13 at Omaha. He passed away in that city Tuesday evening, August 13 at 9 o'clock. The remains were brought here Wednesday morning. Funeral services were held from his late residence at 1 o'clock Friday, followed by services at the German Lutheran church and were conducted by Rev. F. Wupper and Rev. Krueger. Interment in the cemtery six miles northwest of Hooper.

The pallbearers were Ed Fleischhauer, Bernard Monnich, John Haye, J. Meyer, August Hecker, N. Meier.

Out of town relatives present at the funeral were: John and J. D. G. Kuhlman, D. Munderloh and their familes from Uehling; Mr. and Mrs. G. Eggers from Wisner.

The bereaved ones have the sympathy of the entire community in their sorrow.hhw
