Leo F. Sylvia TAUNTON Leo F. Sylvia, husband of Diane V. (Farias) Sylvia, died unexpectedly, at his home, Feb. 28, 2009. He was 75. Born in Taunton, he was a son of the late Albert and Mary (Pacheco) Sylvia. Educated in Taunton schools, he later served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from the former Rennie Curtain Factory as maintenance supervisor, after being employed there for over 25 years, and resided in Lakeville for some time before moving back to Taunton. Mr. Sylvia enjoyed traveling and fishing, and spending time with his family. He will be remembered as a kindhearted soul - always willing to take the time to help others. Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Cherie Ruzzano of Taunton; a son, Leo F. Sylvia Jr. of Taunton; four sisters, Barbara Ouellette of East Taunton, Theresa Silvia of Somerset, Agnes Corey of Taunton and Claire Costa of Taunton; two grandchildren, Maya Ruzzano of Taunton and Shayne Bradford of Middleboro; several nieces and nephews; and many close friends. His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton, Thursday, March 5 at 7:45 a.m.,, followed by a funeral Mass at Holy Family Church, East Taunton, at 9 a.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Taunton. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
