Jacob Peter Gauer age sixty-six of Sunnyside, Frederick County Maryland was laid to rest at the Red House Church Cemetery.
A large number of people gathered at the church to pay their last tributes of respect to a kind neighbor, friend, and a faithful brother member of the church
His widow was to ill to accompany the funeral party to the church so the funeral sermon was presented at a later date and time.

Jacob Peter Gauer was the son of Jacob Gauer and Susan Stemple

He was twice married; first to Martha Ann Wilt on March 5, 1861 and there were two children from that union; Lydia Susan Virginia, and Robert Lee Gauer.

During the months of July & August, 1863 Jacob P Gauer was listed on the, "U.S. Civil War Draft registrations Records, 1863-1865." He was listed as a farmer and married. Draft registration was under direction of Captain James Smith, Provost Marshall.

Married second to Rhoda Mariah Allen on October 13, 1874 and there was one child from that union; Bertha V Gauer.

The cause of death was an affection of the lungs complicated by other health issues.

Rev. E. Manges, pastor of St. Mark's Oakland, officiated at the funeral.
