Mrs. Fred Haug -- passed away at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital on Thursday, July 17. She was 71 years of age. She had been in ill health for the past year.

Emma Theresa Ronnebaum was born in Damme, Germany, August 18, 1897. Her parents were Bernard Ronnebaum Sr., and Agnes Rottenhaus. When she was five years old, she came with her parents, and eight sisters to the United States. They joined their only brother who had already established himself in the USA. A farm west of St. Benedict was her home until her marriage to Fred Haug on November 26, 1918. Mr. and Mrs. Haug lived with their family five miles southwest of Baileyville until their new home in Baileyville in 1965. Mrs. Haug was a member of the Sacred Heart Church in Baileyville, and of the St. Ann's Sodality. Beside her family and home, she enjoyed gardening and sewing. On Thanksgiving Day in November of 1968. Mr. and Mrs. Haug celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with all seven children present.

Besides her husband, Fred, of the home in Baileyville, she is survived by three sons: Virgil of Axtell, Vernice of Vermillion and Gilbert of Cottonwood Falls; four daughters: Elmerina, Mrs. Raphael Broxterman of Baileyville, Kathleen, Mrs. Donna Cliggett of Tiburon, California, Elsie, Mrs. Gerald Rethman of Topeka and Sister Mary Hope OSB of Atchison. She is also survived by four sisters: Mrs. Ben Osterhaus, Mrs. Tim Heiman and Mrs. John Lorson of Seneca, and Mrs. Henry Olberding of Baileyville. There are 22 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The Rosary was recited at Lauer' Funeral Home on Thursday and Friday evenings. The funeral Mass was offered Saturday morning at Sacred Heart Church, Baileyville by Fr. George Klasinski and con-celebrated with Father Henry Deters of St. Benedicts Abbey, Father Dennis Pickert of Axtell and Father Augustin Rottening of Atchison. The Sisters from Mount Saint Scholastica Convent sang the Mass. Steve and Timmy Haug served the Mass. The active pallbearers were grandsons: Mike, Larry, Danny, Henry Meyer, Albert Haug, Alvin Olberding, Cletus Haug and William Kohake. Burial was at the Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery.
