Came to America in 1866 or 1867, sailing from Bremerhaven to New York, the voyage taking 60 days. He came up the Missouri River to Brownsville (near Auburn, NE) and continued on foot to the home of his brother John (Jan) on the Muddy. Thomas's mother died in 1865 before he left Germany.
Thomas moved to Auburn, NE in 1910 when retired from farming.
