Margaretha was born in Illnau, Zurich, Switzerland, the daughter of Hans Ulrich Kuhn and Regula Gut. She evidently joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at an early age and probably emigrated to the Salt Lake Valley about 1860 when age 21, settling in Lehi, Utah. On November 1, 1868 she became the second wife of Hans Ulrich Bryner Jr. and moved to Southern Utah settling in Toquerville, about 25 miles north of St. George. Here she became the mother of ten children. When her husband died in 1905, she moved to be with her four daughters and son who were living in Price, Utah. She died there at age 67; almost exactly a year following the death of her husband.
