A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998, in Fuiten, Rose & Hoyt Funeral Home in Forest Grove for Manuel Rodriguez Martinez, who died Feb. 1 at age 79.
Mr. Martinez was born May 3, 1918, in McAllen, Texas. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Alicia Hernandez in 1942. In 1964, he moved to Forest Grove, where he worked in the timber industry until retiring in 1967. He was a member of St. Alexander Catholic Church and a founding member of El Centro Cultural in Cornelius.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Harvey of Forest Grove, Joel of Morgan Hill, Calif., Jaime of Colville, Wash., Jerry and John, both of Aloha, Jesse of Gaston, Martin of Las Vegas and Dale of Banks; daughters, Bertha Cuellar of Independence, Blanca of Forest Grove and Mary Norris of Tucson, Ariz.; sister, Marguerita Gutierita of McAllen; 29 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Interment will be Forest View Cemetery. The family suggests remembrances to Washington County Hospice.
