Obituary from the Edwardsville Intelligencer (Edwardsville, Madison County, Illinois), Wednesday, March 23, 1977:
   Erwin E. Abert, 69, of Alhambra, died at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 1977, in St. Joseph's Hospital at Highland.
   He was a retired farmer in the Alhambra area.
   Mr. Abert was born Jan. 31, 1908, in Alhambra Township, a son of Emil and Ella Neuenschwander Abert. His mother, of Highland, survives.
   He was married to Esther Stueber Jan. 25, 1936, at Highland. After her death July 29, 1956, he was married to Grace Klaus Aug. 19, 1961, at Alhambra. She survives.
   Mr. Abert is also survived by a son, Erwin Abert Jr. of Alhambra, a daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Marjorie) Glassmaker of Alhambra, a stepson, Milton Klaus of Troy and 11 grandchildren.
   Other survivors include brothers, Clarence Abert of Moro, Arthur Abert of Alhambra and Eugene Abert of Highland, and sisters, Mrs. Errett (Ida) Tabor of Highland, Mrs. Lester (Alma) Wall of Alhambra, Mrs. John (Amanda) McCalla of Edwardsville and Mrs. Kenneth (Julia) Loyet of Troy.
   Mr. Abert was preceded in death by a daughter and a son.
   He was a member of the Madison County Farm Bureau and the Salem United Church of Christ at Alhambra.
   Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and until 11 a.m. Friday in the Dauderman Funeral Home at Alhambra.
   Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Salem Church, with the Rev. Arnold Bizer officiating.
   Burial will be in the church cemetery.
   The family asks that memorials be given to the church's memorial fund, the Heart Fund or the American Cancer Society.
