Paul Mikel "Pete" Stuart, 43, Wenatchee, died on Feb. 25, 2000 in Wenatchee as a result of an automobile accident.

Paul was born on Feb. 28, 1956, the son of Dorman "Don" and Sybil Stuart in Indianapolis, IN. He came to Washington with his parents in 1960 and attended Sunnyslope School. The family then moved to East Wenatchee where Paul attended Grant, Sterling and Eastmont High School.

He played in the Stage Band at Grant School and also was on the Eye and Ear Clinic Baseball Team, that won the championship in 1967.

While still in school, he spent two summer vacations working in Westport as a deck hand for Harbor Charters. He truly loved being at sea.

Paul was a member of Local #612 of Ephrata.

He worked at Grand Coulee Dam in the late 1970s and continued to work in the construction trade in the following years. He most recently lived in Kennewick where he worked for Trans State Asphalt and Columbia Concrete Painting. He moved back to Wenatchee in February of 1999, and then went to Alaska where he worked for O'Hara Corporation.

Paul was an avid reader and had a great sense of humor. He loved to hunt and was an excellent fisherman. He also gained a lot of pleasure from music.

He is survived by two sons, Nicholas and Nathan of Reedsport, OR; a sister, Cheryl Nelson, Spokane; his mother, Sybil Stuart, East Wenatchee; his grandfather, Olen Stuart, Salem, AR; his longtime companion, Melanie Kelley, Seattle and his best friend, Greg Radach of East Wenatchee.

He was preceded in death by his loving father, Don Stuart, his grandmother, Ruby Stuart and his uncle, Wayne Stuart.

"We will miss Paul, but know that he is now with his Dad and they are both at peace."

Peace in the heart now that rest has come. Peace in the mind now that suffering is over. Peace in the soul of the loved and beloved.

Family inurnment services will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
