Mitchell: John W. Mitchell was born in Ross county, Ohio,

When a small boy, the subject of this sketch, moved, with his parents,to Fulton county, III., where he grew to manhood and was married to Miss Sarah Whiting, who was also a native of Ross county,Ohio, June 4, 1867. The fruits of their marriage were 10 children,
five boys and five girls, nine of whom are still living as follows:
Mrs. E. V. Enyeart of near Brunswick; J. E., recently of
Guyman, Okla., now of near Indian Grove; R. R., and Mrs.
M. E. Quick of near Keytesville; J. H , whose present address is unknown; Mrs. J. S. Knox of near El Reno, Okla.; C. A., of Los Angeles, Cal., and Misses Flora and Myrtle who lived with their father.
Mrs. Mitchell died eight years ago last January.
Mr. Mitchell was an exemplary member of the Christian Church
He and his wife and two oldest children moved from Fulton
county, III., in 1871 and located on the farm, near Indian Grove, where Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell continued to make their home until their death. They were always held in high esteem by their neighbors and friends and their children are all an honor to their parents.
Mr. Mitchell was an ideal citizen. As a neighbor he was kind and accommodating. As a man he was upright and honorable in all his transactions with his fellows, while as a husband and father he was patient
and loving and much devoted to his family. Such men as he are always missed more in a community than tongue can tell or pen portray.
The following children were at his bedside when his spirit winged its flight to its
maker: Mrs. E. V. Enyeart, Mrs.M. E. Quick, R. R. and Misses Flora and Myrtle. The other with
the exception J. H. and C. A., all arrived in time for the funeral services which were conducted by Rev. C. DeWeese Friday, and were followed by interment in Powell cemetery beside the sleeping dust of deceased's departed wife. Our heartfelt sympathies are extended to the sorrowing
children in their bereavement.
