Paul John Staab, 68, of Springfield died at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday at his residence.

He was born Dec. 1, 1922, in Springfield, the son of George J. and Christine Ize Staab. He married Jean Anne Reichart in 1955. He was preceded in death by one sister, Marie M. Staab.

A lifelong resident of Springfield, Mr. Staab was funeral director and partner of Staab Funeral Home for many years.

He was a member of, and served as an usher at, the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 364, Bishop Griffin Assembly 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Illinois Funeral Directors Association, District 9A & 10, National Funeral Directors Association, and Eagles Aerie 437. He was a former member of Ursuline Academy School Advisory Board.

Surviving are his wife, Jean Anne; four daughters; three sons; 13 grandchildren; two brothers, George J. Jr. and Vincent E. Staab, both of Springfield; one sister, Catherine L. Staab of Springfield.

Concelebrated Funeral Mass: Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Burial: Oak Ridge Cemetery

Paul John Staab, 68, of Springfield died at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday at his residence.
