From infancy Frank had been sickly. As a youngster he had "brain fever" which kept him out of school. His mother tutored him at home. At age 11 he had an attack of inflammatory rheumatism and soon after the rheumatism left him, Frank began to show symptoms of St. Vitus' dance, a frequent sequence of rheumatism, confined to the hands and fingers. At about age 27 the valves of his heart began to disclose the effects predicted of the rheumatism. He died five years later of heart related problems. Frank never married and had no children.
