Funeral Services for Mr. Mikkelsen In M. E. Church
Resident of Cashmere for 22 Years; Buried In Local Cemetery
Funeral services were held from the Methodist church this afternoon for Mads Christian Mikkelsen, one of Cashmere's ole time residents. Cars lined both sides of Division street from the Sunset highway to the curve on Division street and the church was filled with friends and relatives who wished to pay their last respects to this fine old gentleman.
The floral tributes were numerous and beautiful and covered the rostrum almost entirely. The Reverend Barber and Dr. O. W. Mintzer officiated.
A quartet composed of Miss Mildred Gould, Mrs. Joe Foster, Wilson Dynes and Ralph Barber sang "Abide With Me" and "The Old Rugged Cross". Miss Mildred Gould sang "One Sweetly Solem Thought".
Bearers were: E. E. Gould, S. H. Sim, Ben Vaughan. Peter Liebeck, H. E. Tibbets, John Balsdon.
Mads Christian Mikkelsen was born in Kobenhaven, Denmark, June 4, 1848 and died in the Deaconess hospital in Wenatchee August 31, 1930, being 82 years, two months and 27 days old.
He left his native land as a youth and came to Cashmere 22 years ago which has been his home since.
He leaves to mourn his passing, eight children, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The children are: Miles Mikkelsen of Langdon, N. D., Mrs. Carlson of Jud, N. D., Mrs, Ax of Nampa, Idaho, Norman Mikkelsen, Mrs. R. A. McKellar of Cashmere, Mrs. Leonard Schmitten, Wenatchee, Mrs. Roy Wilder of Wenatchee and Herman Mikkelsen of Cashmere, two sisters: Mrs. Sophia Jurgensen of Denmark and Mrs. Lena Jacobsen of Wisconsin.
Interment was made in the Cashmere cemetery where he was laid to rest beside his wife who preceded him in death in 1911.
Mr. Mikkelsen was a member of the Cashmere Methodist church having joined this organization in 1909. He was well mown and loved in this section.
