Gerdine (Schipper) Suntken (1897 - 1966)
Funeral services for Mrs. Gerdine Suntken were held July 25 (1966) at the Zion Lutheran Church. The Rev. C.W. Schmidt officiated at the 10:30 a.m. services. Music was provided by the Lutheran Ladies Choir, accompanied by Mrs. C.W. Schmidt at the organ. Pallbearers were William Blair, Harold Fredericks, Warner Henney, Fay Leemkull, Leonard Namanny, and Walter Petersen. Interment was in the Lutheran Cemetery with Huebner Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Daughter of William and Elizabeth (Zeba) Schipper, she was born March 24, 1897 in Oslfriesland, Germany. She was baptized in infancy and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith. At the age of 16 she came to Iowa and in 1930, moved to Denison where she made her home.
Survivors include the following children: George of Redwood Valley, California; Clarence of Ukiah, California; Arnold, Gerald and Richard of Denison and Mrs. Geraldine Blair of Vail; Stepchildren; Mrs. Elizabeth Foderberg of Ames, Mrs. Wibkelina Lyons of Rocky Ford, Colorado, and Mrs. Dena Rossow of Des Moines, Mrs. Nellie Camp of Bedford, Indiana; William of Elgin, Minnesota and Fred of Burlington; 15 grandchildren and 30 step grandchildren; 20 step great grandchildren; two brothers, John Schipper of Popejoy and Gerd in Germany and one sister, Mrs. Wubbena of Manzanola, Colorado. One sister and two brothers preceded him in death.
