Raymond Anderson Sr.
June 8, 1925-March 29, 2009
Raymond Lee Anderson, Sr., 83, of Michigan City, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2009 at 9:20 p.m. in his home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 2, 2009 at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel with the Pastor Randy Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery with full military services conducted by the V.F.W. 2536 and the American Legion Skwiat Post 451.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel.

He was born June 8, 1925 in Hymera, Ind., to the late Arvannie and Claudia (Branson) Anderson. On Jan. 14, 1947 in Hymera, he married Mary M. West who preceded him in death, then on July 8, 1972 in Porter, Ind., he married Sheila Ropp who survives in Michigan City.

Also surviving are eight children, Raymond (Joy) Anderson, Jr. of Pleasant Plains, Ark., George (Dolores) Anderson of Stuart, Fla., Bruce (MaryAnn) Anderson, Phillip Anderson, Sr., Glynn Anderson, Sr., Nedford (Anne) Anderson, Sr., Vanessa Bilek, and Kathryne Anderson, all of Michigan City, 17 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two grandsons, Bruce Anderson, Jr. and Nedford Anderson, Jr., and a sister, Jewel Wallisa.

He retired after 36 years as a welder at Dwyer Products and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. as a private first class, 3rd Marine Division, stationed in the Pacific during World War II.

He loved and enjoyed his family, bowling, roller skating, dancing, and building things. He was a strong, loving person and will be missed by many.
