Edward J. Ruppel, 89, a resident of Sunny Ridge Nursing Home, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2006, at St, Nicholas Hospital.
Edward was born March 13, 1917 at home in Sheboygan to the late Henry and Anna (Gorte) Ruppel. At the age of 13, he was affected by polio, which affected many of his capabilities. He spent most of his adult life with caregivers.
As a teenager, Eddie was always a hard worker, spending many hours on the farm enjoying the outdoors, and animals. He also enjoyed bowling, and other sports. He was always proud of his team hats.
He is survived by his nephew Stephen (Judith Strucel) Ruppel of Pewaukee, his nieces Donna (Theodore) Prange of Wis. Rapids, Doreen (Dr. Greg) Jensen of Oshkosh, Diane (Thomas) Potts of Memphis, TN, and other nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his special friend and previous caregiver, Grace Miller of Sheboygan. He was preceded in death by four brothers, and two sisters.
Funeral Services for Eddie will be held Saturday, December 9, 2006, at Zimmer's Westview Funeral & Cremation Care Center (Hwy 42 & JJ Howards Grove). The Reverend Gregory Whelton, Pastor of St. John's United church of Christ, will officiate. Burial will take place at the Lutheran Cemetery in Sheboygan.
