He was born April 20, 1913, on a farm east of Seneca, the son of Joseph B. and Helen Gress Kramer. He grew up on the family farm and attended Sts. Peter & Paul School.
On May 7, 1940, he married Ann E. Boeding at St. Patrick's Church at Corning. They lived and farmed east of Seneca for two years before settling on their farm northeast of Seneca, where they lived most of their married life. In October of 1978 they moved into Seneca. They celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. Ann bravely fought cancer until her death on June 14, 1986.
Art later married Nona Hunninghake Holthaus. She died August 26, 1987, after suffering a heart attack. On April 9, 1988, he married Leona Macke Lierz at Steinauer, NE. She survives of the home in Seneca.
He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church, the St. Joseph Society, and the Knights of Columbus # 1769, all at Seneca. Art had worked as an appraiser for Nemaha County. He served on the Gilman Township Board of Trustees, the Federal Land Bank Board of Directors, and the Nemaha County Co-op Board. He enjoyed dancing, fishing, playing cards and traveling.
Survivors besides his wife Leona of the home are three daughters, Grace Baker of Wetmore, Jane Hesse of Topeka, and Helen Krier of Salem, OR; four brothers, Raymond Kramer of Seneca, Wilbur Kramer of Lawrence, James Kramer of Lincoln, NE, and Frank Fangman of New Hyde Park, NY; 12 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10 AM Thursday at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Seneca. The burial will be in the church cemetery.
